Chupacabra?

Out in southern Texas, a rather mysterious creature was recently found on the property of Phylis Canion.

Could this be the almost mythical chupacabra?

Texas A&M University as well as National Geographic are supposed to be investigating this “creature”.

To our admittedly untrained eyes, this chupacabra looks like a mangy coyote.

Here’s the location where this creature was discovered:

Weekly World News Shutting Down?

Say it ain’t so.

If you are into the strange and weird stuff which (allegedly) goes on in our wonderful world (and beyond) - you know and undoubtedly love the Weekly World News…that staple of supermarket magazine racks with the most over the top headlines you could possible dream up.

Now comes the rather disturbing news that the Weekly World News is closing up shop.

Bob Greenberger, an editor with Weekly World News, reports on his blog that he and the rest of the staff were called into a meeting about noon on Friday where they were “told the Board of Directors has chosen to close Weekly World News. The reasons given make no sense. We’re stunned and shell-shocked. We’re to stay on through August 3, finishing the reprint issues and then we’re done. A glorious, funny, odd publication, born in 1979, will go out with a whimper and all I can think is that something’s going on that they’re not telling us because it just doesn’t make sense.”

Geez, what is this world coming to? Could this be some sort of funky conspiracy??

Here’s the editor’s blog.

Strange Florida Creature

From the town of Archer Florida comes a report about a pretty strange encounter on June 1, 2007.

we saw what looked like a dead dog on the side of the road, but it didn’t have any hair, just like the skin was hanging off and it was just black (the skin).

This creature reportedly chased the family vehicle and even passed it - the writer reports he was going over 30 mph at the time.

Obviously, this is a pretty peculiar story. Wonder what was actually seen - maybe a dog with severe case of the mange?

Here’s the location of this incident:

Moving to Wordpress

Hi everyone - we are currently in the process of moving Mysterious Earth to Wordpress. This process will take several days as we do all the tweaking, so please be patient - after the switch is over, expect lots of great new things from Mysterious Earth.

Religious Persecution?

Religious Persecution?

Is this a case of religious persecution or simply normal school discipline? Since this story happened in our original home stage of North Carolina and since we here at Mysterious Earth have been touched by His Noodly Appendage, you better believe this caught the eyeballs of your intrepid hosts!

A young man by the name of Bryan Killian at North Buncombe High School was suspended for wearing a pirate costume to school!

Since young Bryan professes to be a Patsafarian, he was simply wearing the Holy Pirate Outfit as a sign of his deep religious faith.

The school didn’t buy it - they suspended the young man after giving him several warnings - calling his pirate regalia “distruptive”.

You decide.

Here’s the original report.

Thylacine Still Alive?

Thylacine Still Alive?

The last known Thylacine, or Tasmanian Tiger, died in a zoo in 1936. Since then, countless folks have allegedly spotted living Tasmanian Tigers. Giving the occassional rediscovery of supposedly extinct animals, you can’t just totally brush these claims aside (even if most people making the claims are obvious hucksters).

The latest claim of a live Thylacine comes from two German tourists, Klaus Emmerichs and Birgit Jansen who say they took two photos of a Thylacine in March, 2005.

Now, they are headed back to Tasmania to capture the extinct beast on video.

We wish them luck.

Of course, they didn’t help their credibility when they tried to sell their photos for $25,000.

Secret Soldier Experiments

Secret Soldier Experiments

Those crazy folks in the UK!

The Ministry of Defence funded a secret study to ascertain whether people with psychic powers could help protect the nation, it emerged last night.

The MoD arranged the tests to discover whether volunteers were able to use psychic powers to “remotely view” hidden objects. The studyinvolved blindfolding test subjects and asking them to “see” the contents of sealed brown envelopes containing pictures of random objects and public figures.

Seems the underlying purpose of this secret program was to aid in the capture of Osama bin Laden. And all along you were thinking the war of terror was being conducted on the battlefield!

Black Sheep

Black Sheep

This may be a first for Mysterious Earth and we normally don’t mention movies on here, but this is WAY TOO COOL! This trailer for the upcoming movie “Black Sheep” is incredible. Totally deviant (and possibly mutant) minds obviously concocted this storyline!

Where do we get tickets????

Enjoy the trailer!
