THUNDERBIRD SITE LIST: Giant Birds and Other Flying Creatures In Fact and Legend

A set of links dealing with thunderbirds and other mysterious flying creatures - could be worth a visit just to see what folks out there are seeing and saying.

BTW, we haven't seen any mysterious flying creatures….well, there was that time with that case of beer…

Debunking UFO’s

Not So News has a humorous list of the Top 10 Ways to debunk a UFO sighting. And even though this list is a bit tongue in cheek, its pretty spot-on accurate as well. We’ve seen an uprising of UFO videos on YouTube lately - seems everyone is seeing aliens!

Our favorite is #2:

Then, use the weapon of ridicule: “If UFOs are for real, why haven’t they landed in front of the White House yet?”

Read the entire list.

Weird Creatures

You really don’t have to look beyond our everyday lives to find the mysterious and the weird.  Case in point - the World’s 25 Weirdest Animals.  Some totally bizarre creatures…but all real…all known to science…all living right here with us.

The Mysterious Earth favorite?  The Dumbo Octopus - has a definite Pokemon vibe!

Make Your Own Flying Rods

Flying rods are one of those subjects that really make us raise our eyebrows. Sure, we’ve mentioned flying rods a few times in the past, but this article is way over the top.

Jose Escamilla is pretty much “Mr. Flying Rods” - and apparently he’s done quite well for himself filming flying rods. So this Brazilian named Zefrom sets out to duplicate Escamilla’s methods to see if he can capture these “animals” on video for himself.

The result? You guessed it - flying rods everywhere! Well, tell you what…take your video camera and point it in the direction of the sun…but make sure that the overhang of a roof obscures the direct beams of the sun.

Now film.

You see the flying rods?

Bet you do!

Ipso facto - flying rods are real “animals” - no way they are dust particles, etc…NO WAY!

Chupacabra? NOT!!

A few days ago we let you know about an alleged chupacabra found in south Texas.

Our extremely educated speculation led to the conclusion that the creature was simply a mangy coyote.

Well, close…but no cigar. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission say the thing is simply a fox with skin parasites.

John Young, a mammologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife recently examined the remains of the strange beast and stated that the animal is not a chupacabra or coyote but it is, in fact, a sickly gray fox with a typical case of parasites.

Coyote…fox…hell, we were close!

Chupacabra?

Out in southern Texas, a rather mysterious creature was recently found on the property of Phylis Canion.

Could this be the almost mythical chupacabra?

Texas A&M University as well as National Geographic are supposed to be investigating this “creature”.

To our admittedly untrained eyes, this chupacabra looks like a mangy coyote.

Here’s the location where this creature was discovered:

Weekly World News Shutting Down?

Say it ain’t so.

If you are into the strange and weird stuff which (allegedly) goes on in our wonderful world (and beyond) - you know and undoubtedly love the Weekly World News…that staple of supermarket magazine racks with the most over the top headlines you could possible dream up.

Now comes the rather disturbing news that the Weekly World News is closing up shop.

Bob Greenberger, an editor with Weekly World News, reports on his blog that he and the rest of the staff were called into a meeting about noon on Friday where they were “told the Board of Directors has chosen to close Weekly World News. The reasons given make no sense. We’re stunned and shell-shocked. We’re to stay on through August 3, finishing the reprint issues and then we’re done. A glorious, funny, odd publication, born in 1979, will go out with a whimper and all I can think is that something’s going on that they’re not telling us because it just doesn’t make sense.”

Geez, what is this world coming to? Could this be some sort of funky conspiracy??

Here’s the editor’s blog.

Strange Florida Creature

From the town of Archer Florida comes a report about a pretty strange encounter on June 1, 2007.

we saw what looked like a dead dog on the side of the road, but it didn’t have any hair, just like the skin was hanging off and it was just black (the skin).

This creature reportedly chased the family vehicle and even passed it - the writer reports he was going over 30 mph at the time.

Obviously, this is a pretty peculiar story. Wonder what was actually seen - maybe a dog with severe case of the mange?

Here’s the location of this incident:

Baby Mammoth

The six-month-old female calf was discovered on the Yamal peninsula of Russia and is thought to have died 10,000 years ago.

This mammoth baby is almost perfectly preserved and is currently is Japan for further study and analysis.
