Monstropedia

Monstropedia

A wikipedia for the monsters and other subhuman type creatures lurking all around us? You bet! Pretty cool idea - they currently have 649 articles online.

Here’s some of the ones we noticed:
psychopomps
vampires
zombies (of course, there MUST be zombies!)
werewolves

You know, all the standard type monster stuff.

Forrest J. Ackerman would be quite proud!

Check out the Monstropedia. Hours of fun reading and inspiration - and could grow into a valuable resource.

Sex Attacks Blamed on Bat Demon

Sex Attacks Blamed on Bat Demon

Now that’s the sort of headline we can sink our teeth into!

The BBC is reporting that a series of rapes is being blamed on something called the “Popo Bawa”, which apparently is a bat demon that turns into a human at night and proceeds to rape, loot, pillage, etc. You know, Dracula type stuff!

These attacks are occurring in the city of Dar es Salaam, the main city of the African nation of Tanzania.

The story goes that the bat is able to transform itself into a man at night and it has also been blamed for rapes of women.

Exorcism Death and Conviction

Exorcism Death and Conviction

Murdering exorcism priest

We didn’t actually realize these type of things still occurred in our oh-so-modern-and-enlightened world. Well, obviously we were wrong…not that that’s an unusual thing!

At any rate, a Romanian priest and several nuns from the Orthodox Church were convicted of manslaughter - seems the allegedly possessed woman they were performing the exorcism on died from the ritual.

Irina Cornici, 23, died after being starved and chained to a cross at a secluded convent in the north-east.

Exactly how long were they doing this exorcism????

The priest (the one in the photo) got a 14 year sentence. Astounding! And is it just us, or does this dude look an awful lot like Rasputin?

No More Saluting Our Vampire Overlords…

Thanks to those wacky scientists! We here at Mysterious Earth are quite thrilled to discover that some in the scientific community have decided to quit worrying about frivolous stuff like global warming, asteroid impacts, etc. Instead, some scientists have been busy deriving a mathematical proof that vampires CAN NOT exist! Whew!

Here’s the theory in a nutshell:

Efthimiou’s debunking logic: On Jan 1, 1600, the human population was 536,870,911. If the first vampire came into existence that day and bit one person a month, there would have been two vampires by Feb. 1, 1600. A month later there would have been four, and so on. In just two-and-a-half years the original human population would all have become vampires with nobody left to feed on.

Now THAT’S science!!! Read all the details here.

We’ll be sleeping much better tonight…

Skyfish on News 13

Skyfish on News 13!

When you read about something as weird as skyfish, you can’t help but go to Google and Wikipedia to read more about this odd photographic phenomenon. Since all roads lead to YouTube, I ended up watching an amusing news story from LA’s KCOP 13:

Enjoy.

Sky Fishermen?

Sky Fishermen?

Well, we’re not sure what else to call this…mmm…guess we’ll call him an outdoorsmen from Japan. We’ve covered stories of these mysterious rods (and also orbs) several times, but we honestly thought their appearance were strictly limited to video…ah…well, apparently we were quite mistaken.

Seems a 64 year old “angler” from Japan by the name of Kozo Ichikawa can catch these “skyfish” or “rods” BY HAND! Wow! And there’s even a DVD so you too can do this at home!

Skyfish are mysterious, paranormal objects that fly through the skies or swim in water at speeds so incredibly fast they’re invisible to the human eye, but are regularly captured on video camera. And Japan is home to one of the world’s most adept skyfish anglers, according to Cyzo (October).

Incredibly, Kozo Ichikawa, a 64-year-old tangerine farmer from a rustic part of Shizuoka Prefecture, claims he can catch the skyfish - also referred to as Unidentified Marine Animals — with his bare hands.

Bosnian Pyramid Redux

Ok, unless something earth-shatteringly convincing comes to light about the Bosnia Pyramid, this will be the final mention here. Check out Bosnian Pyramid. We especially love the oh-so clever graphic on the home page! You know a pyramid has reached the big time when it has its very own website.
