Beast of Bolivia - Canine?

A few days ago, Mysterious Earth reported on the Beast of Bolivia.  As the Beast of Bolivia was encountered near the roots of Mysterious Earth in southeastern North Carolina - well, there’s a lot of interest in this creature.

Cryptomundo has published a photo of tracks purported to have been left by the Beast of Bolivia.

Commentary on Cryptomundo points to a coyote.

The Beast of Bolivia Track

Well, our untrained eyes almost immediately thought “dog” when looking at the tracks in the photo.  But a coyote?  Mauling a pit bull?

More likely this creature is more akin to the Turner Beast - a large wild dog or a domestic dog/coyote mix.

Read the entire Cryptomundo article.  There’s some excellent cross analysis of common animal footprints as well.

The Beast of Bolivia?

Bolivia North Carolina, that is..

The roots of Mysterious Earth lie in the fertile farm grounds of southeastern North Carolina, so you can be sure that an alleged mauling by a mystery beast in Bolivia, North Carolina gets our mysterious minds working overtime.

For those note familiar with the area, here’s a map:

Apparently, this beast mauled a pit bull. Now there’s not a lot of creatures native to southeastern North Carolina capable of mauling a full grown pit bull.

The Associated Press reports:

The county’s animal control agency investigated the animal’s tracks, droppings and other clues but couldn’t determine what attacked the dogs. Locals call the unknown animal the Beast of Bolivia.

Locals are calling this thing the “Beast of Bolivia”. Three inch paw tracks were reported.

Any theories?

The Turner Beast

The History Channel’s Monster Quest show on Wednesday, December 5th, dealth with the so called “Turner Beast” - mutant canines and all that jazz.

Frankly, we don’t really understand what all the uproar is about - this thing got an entire hour of TV?

Look at this picture:
The Turner Beast

Looks like a half-chow half-something else to our untrained eyes.

Oh wait, DNA analysis on this “beast” confirmed it was a domestic dog! Oh REALLY???

Here’s Turner Maine on a map:

Chupacabra is a Coyote

Back in July, we reported about the finding of an alleged chupacabra near Cuero, Texas. A little uneducated speculation on our part pronounced this creature as simply a mangy coyote.

Chupacabra Coyote

Turns out our speculation was correct. Well, maybe not the mangy part…but we were dead on about the coyote part.

The San Antonio Express-News reports that the DNA results are in. The DNA testing was financed by San Antonio TV station KENS.

The results? The chupacabra is a coyote!

Biologists at Texas State University announced Thursday that they’ve identified the hairless, doglike beast whose carcass was discovered near Cuero in late July.

The mystery creature gained fame as possibly the mythical “chupacabra.” But thanks to DNA testing, science has gone beyond legend and provided a definitive answer.

It’s a coyote.

“The DNA sequence is a virtually identical match to DNA from the coyote,” Mike Forstner, a Texas State University biologist, said in a news release Thursday night. “This is probably the answer a lot of folks thought might be the outcome. I, myself, really thought it was a domestic dog, but the Cuero chupacabra is a Texas coyote.”

Cthulhu Lives?

This is a real creature from the depths of the South Atlantic ocean.  If only H. P. Lovecraft were alive today - think of the story he'd concoct about this creature!

Make Your Own Flying Rods

Flying rods are one of those subjects that really make us raise our eyebrows. Sure, we’ve mentioned flying rods a few times in the past, but this article is way over the top.

Jose Escamilla is pretty much “Mr. Flying Rods” - and apparently he’s done quite well for himself filming flying rods. So this Brazilian named Zefrom sets out to duplicate Escamilla’s methods to see if he can capture these “animals” on video for himself.

The result? You guessed it - flying rods everywhere! Well, tell you what…take your video camera and point it in the direction of the sun…but make sure that the overhang of a roof obscures the direct beams of the sun.

Now film.

You see the flying rods?

Bet you do!

Ipso facto - flying rods are real “animals” - no way they are dust particles, etc…NO WAY!

Chupacabra? NOT!!

A few days ago we let you know about an alleged chupacabra found in south Texas.

Our extremely educated speculation led to the conclusion that the creature was simply a mangy coyote.

Well, close…but no cigar. The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission say the thing is simply a fox with skin parasites.

John Young, a mammologist with Texas Parks and Wildlife recently examined the remains of the strange beast and stated that the animal is not a chupacabra or coyote but it is, in fact, a sickly gray fox with a typical case of parasites.

Coyote…fox…hell, we were close!
